The Shama sub-Metro Manager of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), Benjamin Kweku Blankson, is taking legal action against the National Health Insurance Scheme following his interdiction by the authority.

Mr Blankson was interdicted by the NHIS on allegations of misconduct and financial malfeasance. The Shama sub-Metro Scheme Manager has also been accused of appointing auxiliary staff and fixing their salaries without authorisation from the Board of Directors.

Media Relations Manager at the NHIS, Akwesi Aquah told Joy News that counsel for the NHIS have been served with the court notice.

Explaining reasons behind the interdiction, Mr Aquah said Mr Blankson had been cautioned on several occasions about the negative allegations that surrounded his office. But Mr Blankson, he stated, had been taking things for granted.

He said the interdiction was a decision by the Board and could never be reversed.

Mr Aquah could not tell the details of the charges being brought against the authority but said the scheme would act accordingly.
