The Minister of the Interior, Dr kwame Addo-Kufuor has set up a committee of enquiry to investigate the recent shooting incident involving the police and some drivers of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU).

The shooting incident at Ashaiman resulted in the death of a boy and a member of the GPRTU.

The committee, chaired by Mr Justice C.J. Honyenuga is to investigate the incident and make appropriate recommendations to government to forestall its future recurrence.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Ministry of the Interior in Accra on Wednesday and signed by Mrs F.E.N. Ampratwum, Chief Director of the Ministry.

Other members of the Committee are Professor Ken Attafuah, DCOP Kwasi Nkansa (Rtd) and Professor Kofi Agyekum. The Secretary to the Committee is Mrs Adelaide Anno-Kumi.

The committee will sit in Ashaiman from Monday 28th July to Friday 8th August, 2008. The general public is informed that any person with information that would assist the Committee in its work would be welcome.

The general public is further advised to look out for advertisements in the dailies that would specify the place and time of the Committee’s sittings and the hotlines to call.
