The Member of Parliament for Central Tongu, Joe Gidisu, has dismissed accusations that he is behind an orchestrated attempt to sabotage the National Youth Employment Programme in the North Tongu District of the Volta Region.
Mr. Gidisu has also denied being behind exaggerated media reports of exploitation of prospective jobseekers under the programme in the district.
The District Chief Executive of North Tongu, Moses Asem on Monday accused the MP of spearheading an agenda to make the district look bad in the eyes of the electorate.
He has also described reports of widespread exploitation of prospective jobseekers under the Youth Employment Programme in the district as exaggerated. He said it was part of the agenda of some individuals with a personal vendetta.
Although Moses Asem admits to some level of exploitation in the programme where its managers were reported to have taken various sums of money to register applicants instead of doing it for free, he said it was not as widespread as had been reported.
Mr. Asem consequently pointed accusing fingers at Joe Gidisu as one of a number of people with a personal agenda to make the district look bad for what he said were minor incidents of exploitation.
Mr. Gidisu however said the DCE was failing to come to terms with the extent of corruption in the implementation of the programme in the district and maintained that he would continue to ensure that officials of the programme in the district were held accountable for decisions they made.
