The former Vice President and Presidential aspirant of the National Democratic Congress has denied reports that his health was failing.

“Just look at me, I have stood on my feet since 8.00 am yet my detractors say I am ill. I do not know what sickness they would ascribe to me the next time. You may like to destroy Atta Mills, but we should speak the truth,” the sharp looking former Vice President said.

Prof. Mills was speaking to a cross section of the media in Wa as part of his campaign tour of the Upper West region

He also denied that he would step down for Eddie Annan, another aspirant but said he would support any candidate who got the mandate of the electorate to lead the party if he failed to win, which he described as unlikely.

On his campaign tour, Professor Mills described support from activists of the party as wonderful and predicted that he would win the congress, which had been scheduled for December 2006.

According to him, he wanted to lead a decent, transparent and honest NDC government but not one which would shield wrongdoers.

A member of the Professor Mills’ campaign team, Nii Lante Vanderpuiye said contrary to what people thought of the former Veep, he was hale and hearty.

He appealed to the media not to allow itself to be used in tarnishing the image of Prof Mills.
