The former Director General of the Ghana Health Services, Professor Agyemang Badu Akosa, has taken a swipe at Nkrumahists for their failure to protect the image of Ghana's first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

According to him, most Nkrumahists keep their silence when people make negative allegations against Dr. Nkrumah.

Speaking at the fifth International Conference on Dr. Kwame Nkrumah in Accra, he says this has led to most of the youth having little appreciated about his ideologies and works.

The conference was organized by the West Africa International Magazine in collaboration with Nkrumah Vision Alive Movement. It is organized annually to sensitize the youth on the life and works of the Dr. Nkrumah.

The organizers of the programme say successive governments that have come after Dr. Nkrumah have not given him enough recognition.

Prof. Akosa said the achievement of Dr. Nkrumah during his term of office cannot be compared to the achievement of any government that came after him. He called on followers of Dr. Nkrumah to come out with strategies that will promote and protect his image.

Prof. Akosa attributed the high rate of crime in the country to the falling standards of the education and the lack of discipline among the youth.

He called for the formation of youth movements such as the Dr. Nkrumah's Young Pioneers to instill discipline among the youth.

The programme was also used to award some individuals who have excelled in their various fields of endeavor.
