The National Democratic Congress (NDC), last Monday dropped a hint on how it intends getting tough with persons it deemed as moles in the party, according to The Ghanaian Observer newspaper.

The paper said the National Chairman of the NDC, Dr. Kwabena Adjei, descended heavily on members of his party, some of whom he described as "hypocrites" who feed agents in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) with information on strategies of the NDC, warning that the party will visit the wrath of June 4th any party person caught releasing any such information to the New Patriotic Party.

According to the charged NDC chairman, the party hierarchy had received information that some members of the party were seriously flirting with the ruling party.

"There are some people in the NDC who are in bed with the NPP members; they are bedfellows. They share everything in common with them (the NPP). When we have any discussions, then they convey them to the NPP," he said.

"Let me warn you, I believe our founder, former President Rawlings, our flagbearer Prof. Mills, and all the party executives are supporting me in this ... whoever we will catch doing that thing, we will use June 4 anger, we will use June 4 wrath, to deal with you," he warned the 'hypocrites' in the party.

Dr. Adjei, who was speaking at the June 4 Revolution Rally last Tuesday in Somanya in the Eastern Region to climax the celebration of the event this year, charged sympathisers and faithful across the length and breadth of the country to hand over any such person to be disciplined.

He gave the assurance that when the party gets such information, the leadership will thoroughly investigate the matter to ascertain the truth in it before dealing with the culprits. He, however, warned that the NDC would not waste its time on false information and alarm relating to such issues.

Touching on the relationship between the June 4 and the NDC, Dr. Adjei maintained that the party is a product of both the June 4 revolution and the December 31st 1981 coup; and therefore any true member of the NDC cannot disapprove of the event.

Describing the two events as the same, he said the country had been declared completely collapsed before former President Rawlings assumed power in 1979 and 1981 to restructure the economy and infrastructure across the length and breadth of the country.

He recalled that the country then lacked all essential commodities which eventually facilitated travelling of masses of Ghanaians to other African countries to seek greener pastures.

Continuing, the party chairman maintained that the time had come for Ghanaians to remind themselves of what June 4 stands for and the good things former President Rawlings did for Ghana during those times.

He said that the NPP leadership has become rich today and therefore difficult to remove from power. "That is why the NDC must unite and work harder to kick them out in the next elections," he told the gathering.

The paper said a fallout its front page story of Monday headlined 'LAST JUNE 4 FOR RAWLINGS', was that the former President also lashed out at Osahene Major (rtd) Boakye Djan, member of the June 4 junta that overthrew General Akuffo’s government, for stating that he would be restrained in whatever way possible to mark or celebrate the 1979 coup d'etat ever again.

In his address to teeming supporters of the National Democratic Congress on Monday at Somanya, where the largest opposition party decided to mark the 28th anniversary of the June 4 revolution this year, former President Rawlings, who was the last speaker, virtually yelled a response challenging anyone who dared to stop him.

Justifying that coup d'etat, he made reference to the Bible, saying even when Jesus saw how the people were abusing the church he lashed them and drove them away.
