The leadership of the New Patriotic Party is expected to address the media on Monday on the seeming political crisis within the party.

Sources close to the party have told Joy News the media briefing will focus on the controversy surrounding the selection of parliamentary candidates and filing fees for presidential aspirants.

The NPP's National Organizer, Lord Commey is reported to have said that the party would use consensus where necessary in the selection of parliamentary candidates.

However this has met with stiff opposition from some party members who have threatened to drag the party to court if it carries through with the suggestion.

The party has come under intense scrutiny especially following President Kufuor's fiat for minister aspirants to quit his government to focus on their presidential campaigns.

A statement issued from the Presidency last Thursday, after a cabinet meeting announced that all minister aspirants will leave office after next month's Africa Union Summit.

The affected ministers have all resigned and are awaiting the July date to quit office, while President Kufuor, in the statement, accepted the resignations and commended them for their support and works.

The forced resignations ahead of the NPP’s constitutional ultimatum is said to be another major subject to be addressed by the party leaders.
