NDC opens nominations for Tema West

The National Democratic Congress has opened nominations for its members interested in contesting the Tema West parliamentary seat to file their papers from Sunday, July 2 to Tuesday, July 31, 2007.

A statement issued in Tema on Tuesday, July 3, 2007 and signed by the constituency secretary, Richard Fiadomor said the filing fee had been maintained at 500,000 cedis or 50 Ghana Cedis.

It said that owing to the high interest shown perspective aspirants in the constituency, the party was expecting at least five aspirants to file their nominations.

“The party is poised t wrestle the parliamentary seat from the New Patriotic Party which has occupied the seat since 1996”, the statement said and urged all members not to “despair in the face of the massive unemployment and economic hardship which has been imposed on Ghanaians by the insensitive and incompetent NPP administration but rather see it as a challenge and be emboldened to work extra hard to see the exist of the NPP in the 2008 elections.

It also called on the electorate to allow the NDC’s flagbearer, Prof John Atta Mills to "clean up the mess created and rescue Ghana from its sinking image".
