Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, the former Press Secretary for over five years and confidant to the President, is set to send the over fifteen aspirants in the NPP running to update their strategies, according to the Network Herald.

In an interview with the Network Herald at his Headquarters, the young civil engineer said, "The whole world is moving into a knowledge-based society and technologically-driven global village. Ghana needs a new generation of leaders who can rise up to the complex demands of the new world. All across the world, governments are heading towards young and energetic leaders who can inspire and drive their people forward. A leader is someone who can mobilize the people, especially farmers and creative minds in industry to bring a better lifestyle to the citizenry."

KAA, as he is affectionately called added, “Ghana needs somebody like me who can inject vitality into our body politic. I have shown my body politic. I have shown my capacity by visiting all the 230 constituencies. In addition I have re-visited Volta, Eastern, Central, Upper West, Upper East and the Northern Regions. These are the places that need my attention so that they can feel very much part of this nation. There is a huge potential in these areas and in my presidency I will focus on them.”

When the Network Herald questioned him about his finances for his campaign, KAA smiled confidently and said, "I have people who are dedicated to the NPP, but believe in my worth. These are the people who are donating to my noble cause. By the way, one does not need a huge financial base to win acceptance. A good strategist can maximize an unusually disproportionate result from an iota of any resource available.

“I have the list of donors, the amount donated, and date of receipt to guide me in my campaign. I have never believed in the politics of patronage and will never engage in unethical activities. Anybody who gets a position in my government will have it purely on men.”

Still brimming with ideas KAA continued, “Professor Adu Boahene did not finance his campaign in 1992 neither did President Kufuor nor Professor Atta Mills, in 2000 and 2004. They all gained from well-wishers.

“The NPP members know of my dedication to the cause of the party as far back as 1992 when as a 30-year-old, I delivered the party's political broadcast when most die-hard members trembled at the sight of the P/NDC leadership.

“Again, I was in the strong room of the Electoral Commission to ratify the results of the 1996,2000 and 2004 elections.

“These periods needed people with guts, intrepidity and resilience and I displayed all these qualities. I thank God that the rank and file remember these heady days and have promised to thank me for my sacrifices. I know that deep in my heart, I will never disappoint these long-suffering people", Kwabena Agyei Agyepong told the paper.
