The Minority Leader in Parliament, Mr Alban Bagbin has said President Kufuor’s new appointments show that he is confused and losing focus.
Speaking to Joy News, Mr Bagbin said: “I think that the president has messed up and he is confused. These appointments show that the NPP is crumbling and in fact the leadership is comatose and he doesn’t know what to do.” For instance, he said the newly appointed Minister of Manpower, Youth and Employment Nana Akomea is not fit for that job.
Mr Bagbin said: “Moving Honorable Nana Akomea, whom we know is one of the young, bright stars of the NPP to Manpower, Youth and Employment is a very wrong move. Hon. Nana Akomea is not cut out for the demands of that ministry.”
Mr Bagbin said although it is a challenge for the NPP MP for Okaikoi South, it was important for the President to have weighed his capabilities before assigning that role to him.
“We know each other, we know our attitudes, we know our capacities and I don’t think that should have been a good move.”
On the nominee for the Ministry of Interior, Nana Obiri Yeboah, he said the appointee’s character does not suit that position.
Mr Bagbin said the creation of designations such as Ministers of State at ministries where there are designated ministers and deputies create unnecessary tension.
