Mr John Tetteh Annang, has been elected as the Chairman of the La Sub-metro District Council Chairman.

He polled 19 out of the 29 votes cast to beat Mr. Ganns Lartey, who had 10 votes with one absentia at the election at La.

Mr Mensah Sackey, Assembly Member for the La Kpanaa Electoral Area withdrew from the contest.

Speaking after the election Mr Annang promised to mobilise all the people irrespective of their leanings to work together for the development of the township.

He noted that the job ahead of him was enormous considering the jurisdiction of the area stretching from the La Pleasure Beach area to Kaajdrano, Danquah Circle to the Cantonment Prison and Police residence to the Airport, Burma Camp and the Trade Fair Site.

The new Sub-metro Chairman said it had come to his notice that some executives of New Patriotic Party had arrogated to themselves the distribution of shelters at La market, which was being developed into a 3-storey building and warn that they should stop their activities.

Nii Adjiri Blankson, Mayor of Accra and Mr Godfred Ako-Nai, former MP for the area graced the occasion, which was attended by Dr. Francis Sowah and Mr. Odoi Glover both aspiring to compete for the 2008 election on the ticket of the NPP.
