The Ashaiman and Kpone-Katamanso Constituencies of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), on Friday elected their Parliamentary Candidates for the 2008 General Elections.

While Mr Francis Bernard Anyinatoe, a 43-year-old businessman emerged the candidate for Ashaiman, Mr. Samuel Okoe Amanquah, a 39-year-old Accountant, was elected as the Kpone-Katamanso parliamentary candidate.

Mr. Anyinatoe polled 61 votes as against 30 and 9 votes polled respectively by Mr. Seji Saji and Mr Andrew Quaye, the other two contestants.

In a keenly contested election at Kpone, Mr Amanquah had 23 votes, while his rival, Mr George Noye polled 19 votes.

Speaking at both functions, Mr. Lord Commey, National Organiser of NPP, reiterated the call on members and supporters of the party to close their ranks, so that with a united front, NPP would become victorious in 2008.

Mr David Quaye Annang, Tema Municipal Chief Executive, urged members in the two constituencies to work hard to wrest the seats from the National Democratic Congress.

The two candidates-elect, asked for the co-operation of the constituents, to enable them to live up to expectation.

Mr Michael Boadu, Municipal Electoral Officer, led other officials from the Electoral Commission, to supervise both elections which were conducted in a peaceful atmosphere.
