Nana Ampaabeng Kyeremeh, chief mechanic of S Y Barnieh Construction Company in Sunyani was at the weekend elected as the new Brong Ahafo Regional Chairman of the People's National Convention (PNC).

He scooped 80 percent of the votes cast.

Mr Benjamin Atta-Riko polled 60 votes to beat Mr Wilberforce Amoah to the vacant position of Organizing Secretary.

The rest of the executive members who had been acting were retained.

They were Mr Daniel Nketiah, Youth Organizer, Mr Clement Mensah Fordjour, Regional Treasurer, Madam Mary Quainoo, Women Organizer, Mr Harunah M Abdulai, Education Secretary and Mr Bauh G Innusah, Regional Secretary.

Swearing them into office, Hajia Hajara Aliu Boye, Deputy National Treasurer, who represented the national executives advised the leaders to work hard to make the party's presence felt in the Region to debunk the notion that PNC had no future.

She stated that the future success of the PNC depended on the regional executives and that they should redouble efforts in canvassing for more support and members.

Hajia Boye noted that 2008 was the party's time because most Ghanaians expected it "to wake up from the slumber and take up the mantle to reverse the nation's current woes".

The Deputy National Treasurer explained that apart from the NPP and the NDC, the main opposition party, the PNC was the next well-organized party.

She said the party's main problem was funding and called on good spirited Ghanaians to support it financially to help lift its image.

"We promise that our party will not be selective when given the mandate as we are going to be there for all, irrespective of political affiliation."

Mr Innusah appealed to the media to assist the party to improve its image.

"Most of the times news stories that tend to dent the image of the party are the ones the media shows interest in. Positive stories about our party are often pushed to the corner", he added.

The Regional Secretary said the PNC since its formation had produced honest and time-tested leaders and Ghanaians could attest to that.
