A dynamic politician, who was once elected the Sabbatical President of the Middle Sex University Students Union in the United Kingdom (UK), Issahaku Kotomah, has declared his intention to wrestle the Bole Bamboi Constituency seat from the incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament, Mr. John Mahama, for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to him, his track record as the first Ghanaian to be elected the International Student Officer and his dynamic leadership skills matched those of Hon. John Mahama.

Highlighting some of his academic credentials, Kotomah told the Crusading Guide that before pursuing his Masters Degree abroad he was the Students' Representative Council (SRC) Financial Secretary of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) and an active member of Tertiary Education Students Confederacy (TESCON).

He said while on his National Service assignment at the West African Secondary School (WASS) as an Economic tutor, he was appointed by President John Agyekum Kufuor as the SRC representative on the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFUND) Board of Trustees.

Kotomah, who is yet to go through the NPP Bole Bamboi constituency vetting, said his mission was to develop and harness the resource base of the constituency by bringing democracy to the doorsteps of the people of the area.

He said that he would redefine politics by highlighting the polices of the NPP and its priorities in the area.

The Crusading Guide said Kotomah was enjoying an overwhelming support from the polling station chairmen, opinion leaders and all the youth groups in the constituency.

According to the paper, even though the District Chief executive (DCE), Miss Elizabeth Salamatu Forgor, had picked up a nomination form to contest Kotomah in the yet-to-be-held primaries, his support base had sent shivers down the spine of the DCE and her supporters.

“In view of this, The Crusading GUIDE is reliably informed that the party constituency executives were considering holding a consensus primaries for Kotomah to sail through to enable him wrestle the seat from the NDC.”

The media strategists of Kotomah, Haruna Mahama, told The Crusading GUIDE in an interview that the emerging events were because of the priorities that his boss had highlighted to win the seat for the NPP.

He added that the present efforts by government in eradicating poverty in the constituency was a trump card to unseat the NDC MP.

He was of the view that the introduction of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) in the area would thwart the NDC's chances of winning the seat in the 2008 general elections.
