The New Patriotic Party is going all out to recapture the seats it lost to the main opposition National Democratic Congress in 2004 general election.

One of such seats is the Odododiodio constituency in the Greater Accra Region.

Alex Quartey, Greater Accra Assistant Secretary of the NPP, said the party has learnt its lessons in Odododiodio and is putting up a campaign strategy which would ensure victory for NPP in 2008 general election.

According to him, NPP lost the Odododiodio seat in 2004 because the party became divided after the primary which elected the party's parliamentary candidate. He attributed the division to "pettiness and bitterness" among the different camps of the contestants.

Mr Quartey expressed the hope that members of the NPP in Odododiodio would come out of the forthcoming primaries this time around more united and support whoever emerges as the constituency parliamentary candidate.

He posited that with a united front, there is no way party would fail to win the Odododiodio seat.

Meanwhile, the Odododiodio NPP primary comes off September 9, with three aspirants contesting: Reginald Nii Bi Ayibontey, former MP who represented the constituency in 2000, Alhaji B Quartey, and Adjei Sowah, the constituency Secretary.

In another development, the Shai Osudoku constituency primary has been put on hold.

Information gathered indicates that the decision taken is a precautionary measure to avoid the specter of the party imposing a candidate on the constituency.

Mr Quartey said that the decision was taken for that particular constituency of the NPP in order for the party to do "the necessary checks" in relation to the contestants.

This, he said, is to ensure the party does its home work well to be able to put up a credible candidate for the Shai Osudoku constituency.

The aspirants are Gloria Akuffo, Minister of Aviation and Daniel Dugan, Deputy Minister of Fisheries.
