President John Agyekum Kufuor has held talks with a Spanish delegation led by the Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, Mr Jesús Caldera Sanchez-Capitán, at the Castle, Osu.

The discussions were held behind closed doors and are believed to have centred on bilateral relations between the two countries.

President Kufuor in brief remarks, said Spain was the gateway to Europe and that Ghana wanted to improve its relationship with it.

He said he was hopeful that the visit by the delegation would help to take the already warm relationship between the two to a higher level.

Mr Sanchez-Capitán said his country was keen to strengthen and deepen its cooperation with Ghana.

"Ghana is a great country with strong leadership in Africa. We want to improve our cooperation with you."
Interestingly, Spain and Ghana also ‘met’ at the FIFA Under-17 World Cup in South Korea, with the Spaniards running away with a 2:1 win to qualify for the finals of the tournament after extra time.
