An independent candidate may emerge to contest the presidential elections in 2008 in Ghana.

If all goes well, he could be the first independent candidate running for president in the fourth republic.

The man is 54-year-old Kwesi Amoafo-Yeboah, an electrical engineer who is also an entrepreneur.

Speaking to Joy News’ Dzifa Bampoe on Monday November 19, 2007, he says he sees himself as a unifier.

He says the country is running on half a cylinder and he wants to get the nation firing on all cylinders.

According to Mr. Amoafo-Yeboah, he has the temperament, he is calm and can unify Ghanaians.

On the question as to why Ghanaians should consider him, an independent candidate, he said party politics has divided the nation, and thinks that as an independent candidate he will be a better option for Ghanaians.

He believes that as an entrepreneur who takes risks for rewards, he has what it takes to create opportunities for all Ghanaians as he has done in the past in business by creating businesses that have provided jobs for some Ghanaians.
