Dr Edmund Delle, National Chairman of the Convention People's Party (CPP), on Saturday cautioned members of the party against divisive tendencies.

He was speaking at the Western Regional Congress of the CPP at Fijai near Takoradi.

Dr Delle said the party is "now beginning to stand on its feet" and anybody who attempts to disturb the peace and unity it is enjoying, would be smoked out.

He said the CPP has a rich heritage of Nkrumahism, which the members should be proud of and propagate.

In a welcome address, Mr Samuel Gordon Etroo, Western Regional Chairman of the party, said 41 years after the overthrow of Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah, the country's economy is precariously dependent on cocoa and gold as it was in 1966.

He said the vulnerability of the economy has not changed and there is nothing to show that it is being transformed.

Mr Etroo said, "We are helpless without dependency on aid, grants, loans and debt forgiveness" adding, "In the face of higher oil prices, the vulnerability of our economy is now more accentuated".

He said while some countries have created prosperous economies, people are destroying the gains of Osagyefo Nkrumah.

Mr Etroo said today nobody questions the sources of people's wealth whether they acquired them through drug trafficking or smuggling.

Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom, a Presidential Aspirant of the Party, said Ghanaians should give the CPP the chance to govern and develop the country.

He said the country has given the NPP and NDC the opportunity to implement their agendas and the time is ripe to try the CPP.

Dr Nduom said he is the right person to head the alternative CPP government because of his wide experience in business, management and finance.

He said he helped design the National Identification System, Ghana Poverty Reduction Strategy and the National Health Insurance Scheme and negotiated the West Africa Gas Pipeline Project.
