Nana Kwasi Adjei Boateng, New Juaben Municipal Chief Executive on Thursday announced that the assembly had so far collected 623,325 Ghana Cedis out of the projected revenue of 872,409 Ghana Cedis for the year, representing 71.4 percent.

He said releases from the Administrator of the District Assembly Common Fund amounted to 734,250 Ghana Cedis representing 64.5 percent of the expected, adding that those resources had gone to support the assembly’s programmes and activities.

Nana Adjei Boateng, who was addressing the first ordinary meeting of the second session of the fifth new Juaben municipal assembly in Koforidua said a total of 23.1 kilometres of roads was regravelled at a cost of 453,040 Ghana cedis with another 70 kilometres of roads graded at a cost of 64,721 Ghana cedis.

“Again, a total length of 4.79 kilometres of drains costing 311,214 Ghana cedis were completed with another nine culverts being executed at a cost of 83,048 Ghana Cedis”, he said.

He mentioned projects undertaken outside the road sector as construction of a slaughterhouse at Ada, two nurses’ quarters at New Town and Agavenya, warehouse at Effiduase, sick bay at Pope John Secondary School, footbridge and culvert at Asokore.

Other projects were the construction of municipal Library complex, three unit classroom blocks at Asokore, Nkukwao and Trom, 20 seater water closets at Betom, the upgrading of Oyoko Methodist School and re-roofing of Freeman Methodist Primary School, among others.

Nana Adjei Boateng said the street lighting project being executed by El Limited at a cost of 4.6 million dollars was about 85 percent complete.

He expressed satisfaction at the security situation in the area and said the joint Military Police Patrols continued throughout the year, adding that a total amount of 19,614.7 Ghana Cedis was spent on the exercise.

Meanwhile the assembly has proposed a revenue projection from the 2007 figure of 872,409 to 1,417,336 Ghana Cedis for 2008.
