The flag bearer of the People’s National Convention (PNC) says politicians in the country should work towards a trouble-free general elections in 2008.

Dr. Edward Mahama who spoke on JOY FM’s Super Morning Show with Israel Laryea, said the country was a peaceful one and any attempt by politicians to muddy the waters might rather create an irreparable dent on the conscience of the citizenry.

The Medical Doctor and politician prescribed a professional approach to dealing with issues of politics in the country to ensure a peaceful conduct of the 2008 elections.

“Political difference doesn’t mean we should kill each other. We go to the ballot next year peacefully and select the best man among the four presidential candidates who will bring peace, stability, and the social justice that Ghana is crying for,” Dr. Mahama said.

He condemned government economic policies, describing them as failed enterprises.

Dr. Mahama mentioned that policies of government under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have rather led to an economically skewed society where the gap between the rich and the poor keep increasing by the day.

“Under the so-called macro-economic stabilisation of the NPP, very few Ghanaians have become very rich and the majority of them are poor and still wallowing in poverty.”

Dr. Mahama leads his party into Elections 2008.
