Prof John Evans Atta Mills, the man who carries the flag of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) into the 2008 presidential elections has promised a tough fight for the incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Speaking to Israel Laryea on JOY FM’s Super Morning Show on Tuesday December 26, 2007, the three-time flagbearer of the biggest opposition party in the country said all is set for the NDC to “kick the NPP out of power and to enter the country into a new regime that has better fortunes for the citizenry.”

“The NDC as usual is going to be fair but tough and firm, but then would demand a level playing field,” he stated.

Prof. Attah Mills said although the party is aware of vigorous preparations by other parties towards next year’s elections, the NDC is poised to marshal the best support of the citizenry for another mandate.

He said “2008 is the year for the NDC and the NDC is going to win.”

Political analysts predicted good chances for the NDC in next year’s contest, prior to the election of Nana Akufo-Addo as flag bearer of the NPP but say the terrain would be tough for both parties, and calls for extra work to win the support of floating voters.
