Greater Accra Regional Minister and MP for Ayawaso Central, Sheikh I.C. Quaye, has retained his seat to contest this year’s parliamentary elections in his constituency.

Sheikh I.C. Quaye secured his seat with a landslide victory, polling 65 votes whilst his only contender, Assembly Member of Kokomlemle, a suburb of Accra, Archiboard Kwabena, received 9 votes.

Sheikh Quaye’s younger brother who initially registered his interest to contest and filed his nomination later pulled out of the race to support his brother.

He told journalists and his constituents that he won because of his ‘unbeatable’ record at development in the constituency.

He appealed to his constituents to remain loyal to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to ensure the continuity of development efforts in the area.

“Wherever I find myself, I’ll continue to … invest in you, …and maximise the votes in this constituency to ensure Nana Akufo-Addo secures an over 60-percent win in the general elections,” he said.

Soon after his win Sheikh I.C. Quaye was given a shoulder-high drive through some principal streets of Accra by his supporters.

And for what he would do in appreciation of his constituents’ support, the Sheikh promised a food jamboree.
