The Member of Parliament for Ketu North, James Klutse Avedzi, who has accused the NPP government of recruiting people who are being trained by the military and police to cause confusion on election day in the Volta Region says he has “incontrovertible evidence.”

“I have incontrovertible evidence, but I will not make a report to the police,” he said.

The MP was speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show Tuesday May 20, 2008.

Mr. Avedzi argued that he would not make a report to the police because he has no confidence in the police, stressing “how can I report the matter to them when they are involved in training the people?” He asked.

The MP said he is not comfortable with the police because they are the accused.

He also said “in these days of contract killings, I want to protect myself.”

The Ketu North MP insisted that at the appropriate time, the evidence would come out just like the allegations of bloated voters’ register which was initially denied by the government has now been shown to be true.

He therefore said, an independent inquiry must be set up to look into the matter.

The NDC MP, made the allegations at the inauguration of the NDC’s Tertiary Education Institutions Network, (TEIN), in Ho.

He accused the Government of training special forces drawn from the military and police to intimidate the electorate in areas the NPP is unpopular in the up-coming December elections.

He said the plans as he is aware of is to get the members of this special force to cause confusion in the NDC stronghold, and then the police would come in to fire warning shots to scare voters who had come from the villages.

According to him, when the police begin shooting, those from the villages would run back to their villages without voting and as a result deny the NDC of votes.
