Captain Nkrabeah Effah-Dartey (rtd), a failed presidential aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), is fighting back his dignity and tells Joy News, he has not been sidelined by the party, but has rather been engaged actively behind the scene.

The Member of Parliament for Berekum who was also a former Deputy Interior Minister, said he is currently serving on the Security Committee of the Nana-Addo campaign team.

“I don’t think that it is accurate to say that I have been missing, Nana Akufo-Addo has put me in the Security Committee and we meet regularly.”

He emphasized that he has been involved in various party activities including rallies and the recently held party congress in Sekondi-Takoradi.

“It is not being on the platform holding microphones to speak that constitutes a campaign,” he noted. “I am playing my role; only that it appears to be a background security appointment.”

On his next political career, having lost his bid for a third time in parliament, he simply said, “Now I am waiting on God”.

Effah-Dartey’s hope in God also follows a number of misfortunes he had suffered in his political career.

“Almighty God has always been my mainstay; I didn’t know I will go to parliament, but God organised things in such a way that I found myself in parliament.

“I was made a Deputy Minister but the President called me and said even though I am one of his best ministers, I should step aside, which I did.

“When this flag-bearer thing came, I campaigned for it but I suffered an unfortunate experience of being disqualified.”

Captain Nkrabea Effah-Dartey also recounted how he was rejected by “my people and the party leadership” when he tried to contest the 2008 parliamentary election on the ticket of the party.
