Frank Frimpong fights Adewale for ABU title

Frank "the Big Shark" Frimpong, Ghana's heat wave in the African heavyweight boxing class has a date with destiny on November 17 when he meets Nigeria's Adewale Abe in an African Boxing Union (ABU) title fight.

The undefeated Frimpong, who stands well over six feet, two inches has dynamites in both hands and starts as the favourite on the Ambition and Commonwealth Sports Award Promotion billed for the Azumah Nelson Sports Complex.

Dubbed "Shut up Ayakatar" the night will also have an array of crack boxers on parade.

Joshua "the Bukom Tatsu" Okine will slug it out with Philip "Sweet Pea" Kotey in a final Commonwealth welterweight eliminator over 12 rounds in a fight of former champions, as Okine has held the Commonwealth title before, while Kotey was national champion previously.

There will be a national super lightweight championship involving Lartei Lartey, the "Bukom Jah" and Isaac Quartey, "the Chorkor Dynamite."

There will also be three non-title fights, all travelling over eight rounds. Thomas "Awin" Awinbono engages Ayittey Okainjah in a super welterweight fray, while Bilal "Take Punch" Mohammed meets Samuel Danso and Ben "Congo Soldier" Ankrah completes the match up with a date with Santos "the Warrior" Okoye of Nigeria in a lightweight duel.

Ghana Tours and Astraeus Airline are sponsoring the event, which will attract 100 thousand cedis for ring-side seats and 20 thousand cedis for the popular stand. Gates open at 18:00 GMT (6:00 p.m.)
