Foreign-based Ghanaians to meet local counterparts

A select side of foreign-based Ghanaian professional players will engage their local counterparts in a charity match at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium on December 31.

The event part of moves to raise funds to support the campaign against HIV/AIDS is being sponsored by the Authentic Sports Network, a sports development firm in Kumasi in collaboration with the Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG) with support from Jako, dealers in sports wear.

Briefing the GNA Sports in Kumasi on the event, Mr Listowel Yesu Bukarson, Chief Executive Officer of the Network, disclosed that the foreign-based professionals team would be handled by Mr Emmanuel Afranie, former coach of the senior mational team, Black Stars and Kumasi Asante Kotoko whilst the locals would be handled by Abdul Razak, also former coach of the Black Stars and Kotoko.

He indicated the match will go on simultaneously with an HIV/AIDS awareness campaign by a team from the Ashanti Regional Directorate of Ghana Health Service aided by their counterparts from Obuasi. Mr Bukarson promised further campaigns aimed at spreading anti-HIV/AIDS message.

He commended the management of AshantiGold Sporting Club and Anyinam Lodge for their immense contribution and support to the organization of the event.
