Dade Boxing Promotion, an Accra-based boxing promotion agency on Monday presented boxing equipment to the National Sports Council (NSC) towards the development of amateur boxing in the Obuasi Municipality.

The equipment worth five million cedis was in response to an appeal made by Mrs. Grace Asiam, Obuasi Municipal Sports Organizer to the gym to help salvage the sport in her District.

The equipment is made up of two pairs of sparring gloves, one punching bag, a hand pad and an unfilled punching bag.

Gideon Quartey, Chairman of the Dade Boxing Promotion told the GNA Sports that the donation was part of his outfit's effort towards the rejuvenating of amateur boxing in all the ten regions of the country. He said this is a first step by the gym towards establishing a boxing gym in Obuasi.

Prince Ernest Oduro Mensah, Chief Executive Officer of NSC, who received the equipment on behalf of the Assembly thanked the officials of Dade Promotion and urged others to emulate their gesture. He said the presentation was a sign that Council was in partnership with stakeholders to ensure the developments of sports in the country. Madam Asiam said that the equipment will go a long way to revive amateur boxing in her Assembly and thanked the dade gym for their kind gesture.
