Aside the joy surrounding Ghana’s celebration of half a century of nationhood, football clubs would cap the day competing for honours but in joyous fashion on the pitch.

A number of intriguing encounters would come off on Tuesday as twenty-eight teams battle for fourteen trophies to mark Ghana’s 50th anniversary celebrations.

Competing teams are eligible to field guest players for the anniversary matches according to organisers.

The fascinating pairings has a blend of both premier and division one sides competing for anniversary honours.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko would line up against King Faisal at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium with Liberty Professionals playing host to Accra Hearts of Oak at the Carl Reindorff Park at Dansoman.

Gamba All Blacks and Accra Great Olympics will meet at Swedru Park whilst Power FC takes on Real Sportive at the Ho Stadium.

At Tamale, Real Tamale United will battle Division One side, Lepo Stars whilst Tano Boafoakwa and B.A United will rekindle their local rivalry at the Coronation Park in Sunyani with a similar battle at the Robert Mensah Stadium at Cape Coast between Ebusua Dwarfs and Venomous Vipers.

Sekondi Hasaacas and Eleven Wise will engage in a similar encounter at the Gyandu Park with Heart of Lions taking on Home Stars at Kpando.

Catholic Stars will play Upper Stars at the Bolgatanga Stadium with Gold Stars taking on Mine Stars at Tarkwa.

At the Golden City Park in Berekum, Arsenals will play Chelsea whilst Okwawu United face Kessben FC at the Nkawkaw Brightons Park to end the pack.

Welbeck Abra-Appiah, Chairman of the Professional League Board said to get winners for all the 14 matches, any of the matches that end in a draw will go straight into penalty shootout.

He said the reason why AshantiGold and Feyenoord Academy have been exempted is because of fixture congestion.

"AshantiGold asked to be exempted because of their continental matches, whiles Fayenoord said their players will be tired since they have to honour an outstanding against Bofoakwa on March 4 in Sunyani."
