The Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) has declared three national titles vacant, according to its latest rankings released for the first quarter of the year.

The vacant titles are the Light Heavyweight, Middleweight and Super-Featherweight.

The GBA has subsequently ordered some boxers to contest for the vacant titles whilst others are to engage in elimination bouts to determine the number one contenders in their weight categories.

In addition to the new arrangements some champions have also been ordered to engage in mandatory title defence.

According to information gathered by the GNA Sports from the secretariat of the GBA, Ibrahim Marshall, Epiphany Pipi, Franklin Okine and Issah Akrong are the contenders for the Light Heavyweight title in that order whilst George Amuzu, Ayittey Okainjah, Ahmed Akrong, Ato Ticektts and Kojo Issah are the contenders for the Middleweight title.

The GBA has however ordered Kojo Issah and Ayittey Okainjah to vie for the vacant middleweight title.

In the Super-Featherweight division, George Ashie retained his position as the number one contender followed by Thomas Aryeetey, Joseph Laryea, Seth Neequaye, Robert Nettey and Michael Abbey in that order.

Africa Boxing Union (ABU) champion Yakubu Amidu and Ashie have also been selected to contest in the Commonwealth Final Eliminator.

The winner will get the opportunity to compete for the Commonwealth title.

The GBA has also sanctioned another Commonwealth eliminator between Charles Adamu and Micheal Gbenga in the Super Middleweight division while Joshua Okine will take on Philip Kotey in another Commonwealth eliminator in the Welterweight division.

Thomas Awimbono is scheduled to defend his National Super Welterweight title against Ishmael Tetteh whilst Lartei Lartey is to defend his Super Lightweight title against Isaac Quartey.

Bilal Mohammed will clash against Sam Amoako with Albert Mensah slugging it out with Godfred Sowah in separate elimination bouts in the Lightweight division.

Lanquaye Wilson and Herbet Quartey will contest for the National Super Batamweight division.

Isaac Quaye is to defend his Super Flyweight title against Isaac Owusu.

According to the information, the GBA will strip boxers of their titles if they fail to defend them within the stipulated time.
