The National Under 23 team Black Meteors qualified for the next stage of the 2008 Olympic Games after beating their Burkina Faso counterpart 2-0 at the Sunyani Coronation park on Sunday.

The Meteors qualified on a 5-0 aggregate after they were declared winners in the first leg and awarded three points and three goals following the fielding of two unqualified players in the Ouagadougou encounter.

Sadat Bukari snatched the opener in the 55th minute and added the second in the 65th minute for the Meteors.

Playing before an enthusiastic home crowd, both teams indicated their readiness and commitment to carry the day but could not make use of the numerous chances that came their way as the strikers shot wayward.

After the recess, the Meteors piled pressure on the visitors with an effective combination between Prince Tagoe, Emmanuel Allan and Sadat Bukari and in one of their forays Sadat capitalized on the defensive mix up by Henri Traore, Oumar Sanogo and Salif Nogo to strike home for the opener.

The Meteors could have increased the tally with a number of goals but Prince Tagoe on a number of occasions squandered the chances that came his way.

Meteors lineup: Eric Nii Baah (GK), Kennedy Korley, Jerry Akaminko, Bawa Mumuni, Isaac Vorsah, Sampson Cudjoe, fied Michael Akuffo/Baba Iddi, Emmanuel Allan/Emmanuel Clottey, Prince Tagoe, Sadat Bukari and Kojo Asamoah.
