Kumasi Asante Kotoko has indicated their desire to use the impending Onetouch Top Four Tournament to redeem their image after it placed a disappointing third in the just ended premiership.

Kwame Baah Nuako, Communications Director of the Club said at a press conference in Accra on Monday that the past season has not been the best for them, hence the need to seek redemption in the Top Four Tournament.

He described the competition as a perfect opportunity to reclaim their glory by emerging as the champions at the end of the day and to appease their numerous followers.

Mr Nuako said: “It is time for us to seek vengeance over almost all the participants who were a thorn in our flesh during the premiership and I can assure them that they will not have it easy this time round.”

“We are aware of the fact that we could not pick the maximum points from all the three Clubs in the premiership and that is one of the major reasons why we committed ourselves to the tournament – to make amends,” he added.

Kotoko suffered one of their major defeats in the premiership at the hands of Heart of Lions at their home base, “Waterloo Park” at Konongo and a back to back defeat from Hearts of Oak, whilst Arsenals also hammered the Fabulous lads 2-0 in the second round at Berekum in the same competition.

Kotoko opens the tournament with a game against Berekum Arsenals at the Coronation Park, Sunyani on Sunday, May 27 while Hearts play against Heart of Lions at the Robert Mensah Stadium, Cape Coast.
