The Ghana Football Association has defended its choice of Sellas Tetteh as the new Coach for the Black Starlets.

The Football Association on Thursday named the Black Stars’ Assistant Coach as replacement for Osam Duodu who resigned last Tuesday.

Sellas Tetteh’s immediate duty will be to prepare the National Under-17 team for the FIFA World Cup in September.

Former Black Stars Captain, Emmanuel Quarshie who started as a replacement after almost two years of serving as assistant to coaches Bashiru Hayford and Osam Duodu.

But in a surprise turn of events, the GFA settled on Sellas Tetteh.

Vice-President of the Football Association Fred Pappoe said the FA is convinced Tetteh is the right man for the job.

He said: “We look at qualification of the person, what he has done in the immediate past and what he is doing presently. We have to look at the readiness and the commitment of the person…we look at somebody with the moral courage to stand all temptations.”
