Five to draft legal policy for boxing

A five-member Committee has been set up by the Board of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) to draft a policy to regulate boxing in the country.

The Committee made up of the GBA Chairman, Moses Foh-Amoaning and four others have been tasked with the responsibility of setting up of administration guidelines, constitution for the Authority as well as exact terms of office for its future leaders.

Foh-Amoaning named the other four members as Peter Zwennes, Vice-Chairman of the GBA Board, G.D.A Laryea, Felix Quartey and Brookman Emissah, all members of the Legal Committee of the GBA.

He said that the Committee will take into consideration oral and written evidence in reaching the final documentation and called on individuals to furnish the secretariat with their knowledge and expertise.

The Chairman called on bodies such as the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG), United Coaches Association and other stakeholders to submit proposals, suggestions and relevant papers to enable the Committee come out with a progressive document.

After the completion of work, the report would be submitted to the Council of Patrons for review and endorsement after which stakeholders will confer for its acceptance.

Foh-Amoaning mentioned the members of the Council as Nii Adjenkwa (John Allotei Coffie), Amarkai Amarteifio (Swedish Counsellor in Ghana), Alhaji Showumi Williams, Frank Appiagyei, Joe Aggrey and Ray Quarcoo.

The Committee is expected to finish and present its work by the end of the year.
