The Member of Parliament for the Talensi Constituency in the Upper East region, Mr John Akologo Tia has donated sports kits valued at about 32 million cedis to the Bolgatanga Senior Secondary School.

The source of finance was from his share of the common fund. Presenting the items, which included 15 pairs of football boots, two footballs and a set of jerseys, the MP said apart from the tremendous academic performance of the school, it also performed excellently in the sporting field.

He cited a recent inter-schools Milo Championship Games won by the school which qualified it to represent the region at the national level in Sunyani as a motivation for the donation.

Mr Tia appealed to the students to strive higher by combining their academic work with sports.

"As students, your future depends on your output in school. You must not play with your studies", he advised.

The Headmaster of the School, Mr Francis Avongsige, thanked the MP and said the donation was timely and had come as a relief because the school lacked sports equipment.
