George Osei of the Takoradi Golf Club returned a gross score of 147, to win this year's Tigo Tema Open Golf Championship which ended at the Tema Country Golf Course on Sunday.

Richard Coffie came second with 150 gross, beating F.E. Torgah and G. Sai on count-back, while Kojo Krunzu placed fifth, also beating R.K. Gouvinus on count-back.

In the Ladies encounter, 'Evergreen' Mona Captan came first with 180 gross, while Beatrice Vetsch-Bempong took the second position with 181 gross, beating Grace Afriyie on count-back

In the Juniors Division, Christopher Mbii came first with 62 net, followed by V. Atilla with 66 net, while K. Amenyo placed third with 67 net.

Victor Brave-Mensah won the Professionals category with 284 gross, Kojo Bani and Vincent Torgah came second with 286 gross, Eric Henaku placed fourth with 288 gross while Emos Korblah took the fifth position with 289gross.

The two-day 36-Hole Scratch event opened to amateur and professional golfers throughout the country was sponsored by Millicom Ghana Limited.

Mr Dominic Fobih, Minister for Education, Science and Sports in an address read for him praised the company for sponsoring the event.

He said the ministry would do everything possible to ensure that t he game is developed.

Mr Tismark Inja, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Millicom Ghana Limited said the company would continue to support the development of the sport as part of their corporate responsibility.
