Braimah Kamako aka Bukom Banku will get a shot at his first international fight outside the country. Although the date is yet to be announced, Banku's agent and the boxing authorities are working fervently to make it a reality.

His trainer, Karl Lokko feels the news has come as a relief to them because they have tried settling the issue but to no avail.

Even though Banku has been cleared to fight by Dr. Chris Hesse from the Korle Bu hospital, he still needs a final clearance from the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA).

The GBA who initially opposed his fighting because of problems with his eyesight, are close to giving him the license to mount the ring again.

However he still has to meet international standards if he travels outside the country to fight.

The issue of Banku's fight has gone back and forth as medical experts form Korle Bu and the GBA refused him a license.

Banku is said to have an eye defect which could blind him if went on to fight in that state but he has always maintained that there is nothing wrong with his sight because he underwent surgery to correct the defect.

He contends that his eyes are in good condition and that he feels the GBA wants to sabotage him.

Banku was scheduled to fight Danny Green in Australia somewhere in July but had to be held back due to the refusal of the GBA to give him a permit.

But organizers have assured him of a new date for his fight, which will be his maiden bout away from home.
