The Ohene Djan Sports Stadium in Accra would for the first time have a Police Post after the current renovation exercise takes off.
The citing of the Police Post at the stadium is to clamp down on hooliganism at the venue during the Ghana 2008 Africa Cup of Nations and thereafter.
Jimmy Castagna, Technical Director of Micheletti revealed this to the GNA Sports on Monday after an inspection tour of facilities for the venue earmarked for the opening ceremony for the 26th edition of the biennial event.
According to Castagna, the Police Post, which is one of many new facilities at the national stadium is in line with the international requirements and will be very vital during next year's event.
The Police Post is situated opposite the old GHALCA Office and would be well equipped to enhance the policing activities of the Police and other security agencies at the venue.
Among other new facilities are eleven drinking bars, two at each of the four stands with three at the VIP Lounge including the Presidential Lounge.
Mr Castagna noted that a-stainless steel net would be placed around the stadium to protect the fans from direct sunshine.
"The steel net will also prevent rustiness from sea salt and will repel water during rains", adding that the facility is the first of its kind in any stadium in Africa.
The Italian also mentioned that two stand-bye generators with a capacity of about 900 KVA have been installed to avert any power failure during the month-long soccer tourney.
The digital scoreboard will be tested on Wednesday just as all the lighting systems since the company was putting up finishing touches to the project ahead of the October 31 deadline of the Stadium, which will have about 600 rooms upon completion.
The Ohene Djan Sports Stadium is one of the four venues including the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, Essipong near Sekondi and Tamale which are earmarked for the Ghana 2008 Africa Cup of Nations with the Accra venue to host the first and last games of the competition.
