CAF boss leads delegation for CAF Draw

Alhaji Issa Hayatou, President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) would lead a 49-member delegation to Ghana for the official draw of the 26th edition of the African Cup of Nations slated for Accra on Friday, October 19.

The draw which would take place at the plush International Conference Centre in Accra, would have the two Vice Presidents, Gen. Seyi Memene and Mr Molefi Oliphant, the General Secretary, Mr Mustapha Fahmy as well as members of the Executive Committee of CAF in attendance.

Magnus Rex Danquah, Chief Operating Officer of the LOC told GNA Sports that others in the team are 13 members of the Executive Committee, two FIFA Executive Committee members and 21 members of the CAF Organizing Committee.

Others include LOC Chairman, Dr. Kofi Amoah and the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Mr. Kwesi Nyantakyi.

Two officials from each of the 16 qualified countries would also be guests at the event, which commences at 14.00 hours GMT.

The Chief Operating Officer said the program would be beamed live on national television and to a global audience through satellite.

Thirteen nations, including Ghana have now qualified for the tournament, with three slots up for grabs in the final round of matches at the weekend.

Nigeria, Cameroon, Sudan, Morocco, Tunisia, Cote D'Ivoire, Zambia, South Africa, Namibia, Guinea, Angola, Senegal and Ghana are the qualified teams.
