Faisal, Hearts challenge FA's Status Committee

King Faisal have rejected a ¢30 million compensation ordered by the Player Status Committee of the Ghana Football Association for the training and development of their player, Iddrissu Yahaya, who has been at the centre of a transfer controversy for the past few months.

The Player Status Committee had ruled that Kessben FC pay Faisal the amount after it was discovered that Faisal had transferred the player to Accra Hearts of Oak at a time the player's contract had run out.

But Faisal's Accra representative, Mr Oduro Sarfo, told the Graphic Sports that the decision was unacceptable and described the amount for compensation as most insulting.

"The Status Committee is yet to communicate their decision to us but I'm afraid Faisal will not take ¢30 million for whatever reason.

"In any case, before the decision by the committee, Kessben had agreed to pay Faisal an amount of ¢80 million and we are not prepared to go that low.

“We are challenging the basis of this so-called compensation and the Status Committee must come out to tell us how they came by that figure", he argued.

Meanwhile, Accra Hearts of Oak are also challenging the Status Committee's assertion that they secured the player's card without his consent.

Hearts Administrative Manager, Ashford Tettey-Oku, in reaction to a statement attributed to the Chairman of the Player Status Committee, Mr Jones Alhassan-Abu which was published in the Tuesday, October 8 edition of the Graphic Sports, he asked "if we did not have the player's consent, how were we able to agree on his personal terms before he finally told the Graphic Sports earlier that he had changed his mind about his intention to play for Hearts because he wanted to stay in Kumasi to take care of his ailing father?

He argued that the consent of the player is only evident at the registration stage on the T2 Form and pointed out that one needs a p1ayer’s consent to negotiate his personal terms before signing the T2, officially consenting to his transfer.

"Clearly, Mr Abu-Alhassan was putting the cart before the horse, and the attempt to connect Hearts to the decision of the Status Committee is strange.

"One needs to find out whether at the time his committee awarded the ¢30 million compensation, he had seen the boy's consent on the T2 Form for Kessben.

"The task of the Player Status Committee was to rule on Iddrissu Yahaya's status, whether or not he is a bonafide player of King Faisal or his not being a player of King Faisal because his contract had elapsed was what made it to take the next step of evoking the training and development compensation clause and not Hearts of Oak's perceived involvement" he argued.

"After all we lost interest in the whole deal the very moment we noted the player's inconsistency after denying that he met us when he had actually done that and concluded personal terms with us but changed his mind to stay in Kumasi,” Ashford stated.
