Gold Fields Ghana, (GFG) major sponsors of the national soccer team, the Black Stars have said they are considering renewal of the contract for a further three years.

The company has for the past two years sponsored the Stars which comes to an end after the upcoming Ghana 2008 soccer fiesta.

Dr. Tony Aubynn, Head of Corporate Affairs and Social Development of GFG who disclosed these during at interaction with the media at Takoradi said that the deal had brought huge potential benefits to the company and the country.

He said the sponsorship deal would however be a subject for negotiations with the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

Dr Aubynn expressed satisfaction with the collaboration between Gold Fields, the Association and the Black Stars, which he noted has brought honour to the company and the country, adding that, "Our commitment and efforts to support soccer development was crowned with success".

He said as the major sponsors of the Black Stars, they were still committed to honour their side of the bargain so as to whip up support for the technical team and players to ensure that they win the forthcoming competition.
