Real Tamale United (RTU) on Sunday deepened the woes of Accra Hearts of Oak when they defeated the defending champions by two goals to nil in an 11th week fixture of the Onetouch Premier league played at the Tamale Sports Stadium.

RTU scored two beautiful goals within the first 15 minutes of the first half to demoralise the visitors, who could not stand the "heat" of a determined Coach Abdul Razak’s boys.

Kwame Ajagba set the stadium ablaze in the 11th minute when his powerful shot from a free kick rolled past the Hearts defence, beating goalkeeper Laud Quartey before hitting the back of the net.

Three minutes later, Kabiru Imoro increased the tally to two. Kabiru’s goal was the result of a beautiful move by the Tamale boys as they seized the initiative and threaded accurate passes until the ball found the attacker, who made no mistake from close range.

The game became very interesting after the second goal as both sides played their hearts out on the lush green pitch, which was a deviation from the grassless Kaladan Park that used to be the home grounds of RTU.

Indeed, Hearts should have been the first to score but surprisingly, Samuel Affum failed to convert a clear chance as early as the second minute, when he had only a wrong footed goalkeeper, Charles Kipo to contend with.

Equal scoring chances were created in the second half with Hearts winning the 50-50 balls but nothing fruitful came their way until referee Patrick Kyeremanteng from Kumasi brought proceedings to an end, leaving the full time scores at RTU 2 - Hearts of Oak 0.
