A complex of miscommunication and poor field strategy has dealt a 2-1 blow to the Black Stars of Ghana in the hands of their Mexican counterparts.

An Essien back-pass which rolled off the shin of the Stars' goalkeeper was pounced upon by a lurking Mexican who obviously had been looking for an equalizer.

Ghana was the first to register an opener when Essien cut in on an intelligent pass from Sulley Muntari in the 54th minute.

In a game that started off with a high tempo, it was just likely that the unexpected could happen.

Mexico comfortably jumped into a lead with a penalty Ghana’s captain John Mensah described in his gestures as undeserving.

The Black Stars of Ghana played passing football in the most part of the match, advanced to threatening tackles but later ended up defending.

Even though the game saw both sides eager to run each other chewy, it failed to burst into any excitement, especially for the fans of the Stars.
