The head coach of Kumasi-based King Faisal FC, Steve Polak has implored supporters of the Club to rally solidly behind the team to enable it to put up a sterling performance in the One- Touch Premier League.

He said supporters play a key role in any team’s development and as such it behoves the Faisal fans to always exercise restraint during the team’s performance and results after matches since their actions could in one way or the other determine the team’s destiny in the league.

Speaking to the GNA Sports in Kumasi on Tuesday, Coach Polak condemned in no uncertain terms the behaviour of some of the supporters who threatened to assault him for putting up an abysmal performance in Faisal’s league match against Gamba All Blacks at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Monday.

Some of the supporters who were apparently disappointed with the team’s 1-1 drawn game against All Blacks vented their spleen on the coach soon after the match and threatened to beat him up.

The supporters, among others, accused the coach of being technically bankrupt, a situation, which they said saw him make many elementary mistakes in the course of the game, such as the late substitution of players and also fielding players perceived to be his favorites.

Coach Polak said in spite of the challenges confronting the team, they were still on course to achieving their objectives as morale in camp was very high.

“We have a relatively young team which is capable of going places if they are given the time to mature”, he told the GNA Sports.

Coach Polak noted that the technical team was working feverishly to improve upon the psyche, confidence and shooting accuracy of the players to boost the strength of the team.
