Kumasi Asante Kotoko subdued Dolphins FC of Nigeria 4:1 (aggregate 4:3) to advance into the next stage of the MTN/CAF Confederation Cup tournament in Kumasi today, overcoming a barrage of obstacles, albeit with a tinge of magic.

Down by two goals from the first leg against Dolphins and thus needing three unanswered goals to secure qualification, Kotoko had the displeasure of scoring an own goal through defender Prince Anokye to add to their woes and their opponents advantage.

That made their qualification into the next stage a hugely doubtful one, needing to score no less than four unanswered goals in the remaining minutes of the fast-paced game.

Then the team began to pick up the pieces, with Samuel Inkoom pulling one goal back just before the break.

The game turned in favour of Kotoko with the introduction of good old Stephen Oduro and 'Tico, Tico' Ofosu Amoah who stringed killer passes upfront for the Kotoko attackers.

Eric Bekoe then capitalised on the supplies, adding Kotoko’s second in the 66th minute, and following it up with his personal second and Kotoko’s third goal in the 85th minute in unbelievable fashion.

With his back turned towards the Nigerian post, Bekoe needed to direct a shot 180 degress to beat the bewildered Dolphins defence and goalkeeper.

And with just about two minutes left, Kwabena Yaro scored what was most vital to oust Dolphins, the second successive Nigerian side after Wikki Tourists.

The Match was originally scheduled for Sunday, May 12 following a heavy downpour at the Baba Yara Sports stadium in Kumasi.

Before the match was called off, Kotoko were leading by a lone goal scored by Jordan Opoku in the 45th minute.
