The Normalisation Committee Special Cup continues this weekend as matchday 5 comes off with some thrilling matches on the schedule.
Asante Kotoko have the opportunity to extend their lead at the top of Zone B when they travel to face Bechem United. The Porcupine Warriors are in great form heading to Bechem having won three of four games – including a 2-0 win over AshantiGold in midweek.
Their opponents, Bechem, haven’t impressed but have proven to be a strong side anytime they play at home in recent times. Which means CK Akonnor’s side must be at their absolute best to get the win.
In Accra, the Dansoman Carl Reindorf Park will be the centre of attraction when Liberty Professionals hosts Hearts of Oak. The Phobians go into this clash with a little bit of confidence after ending their winless run against Dwarfs. But they haven’t fared well on the road as they have lost all two games against Karela United and Elmina Sharks.
For Liberty, they have shown that they have enough firepower to record a famous win. The Scientific Soccer lads are the side with the most goals (7) in the competition. Six of those goals came in their two home games.
Elsewhere, AshantiGold will fancy their chances at home against Medeama. The Miners will have one thing on their minds – return to winning ways – after Kotoko halted their unbeaten run last Wednesday. Prior to the match, Ashgold had not conceded but they shipped in two goals in the final 15 minutes.
They may have lost the match but their performance was very impressive especially in the first half where the incredible of Felix Annan denied them a deserved goal. Medeama, on the other hand, struggled and needed a penalty by Kwame Boateng to win 3-2 at home against Bechem United.
Also, Dreams FC face off with Zone A leaders WAFA in Dawu. Zone A bottom dwellers will be seeking their first win against Elmina Sharks in Cape Coast.
Other games to keep an eye on include, Eleven Wonders versus Berekum Chelsea in Techiman and Karela United at home against Inter Allies.
