¢1.5 b ICT Centre For Ashaiman Schools

An Information Communication Technology (ICT) laboratory has been commissioned at Ashiaman to provide adequate computer training to the pupils in the area.

The ¢1.5 billion computer laboratory was provided under the AKA School- ICT project, in collaboration with the Ghana National Association of Private Schools (GNAPS) and the Parent-Teacher Association of the Solidarity International School at Ashaiman where the facility is situated.

The AKA Computers secured ¢700 million funding to cover 48 computers and accessories, while the school provided structural facilities at a cost of over ¢350 million.

The Executive Chairman of AKA Computers, Mr Prince Kofi Kludjeson, said it was the vision of the company to, within the next three years, provide about 100,000 computers with Internet connectivity to schools and homes in the country.

He said the company had secured funds towards this objective to provide credit up to three years to achieve their vision.

The Executive Director of the Solidarity International School, Mr Jimah K. Bennin, said the facility which was the first in Ashaiman and its environs, would be available to all schools in the area to link them to the rest of the world.
