Government aims at improving telecommunications

Government has projected a marked improvement in the quality of internet and telephony services.

This target is expected to be achieved by August 2008.

In pursuit of this goal, government has launched a $70m communications backbone project. The project is funded by the Japanese government.

Speaking to Joy News, Communications Minister, Dr. Aggrey-Ntim said the project is part of the ministry’s policy to bridge the digital divide between the southern and northern parts of Ghana and develop ICT infrastructure in the country.
