September 20 is ‘Software Freedom Day’
Ghana will join about 65 countries worldwide on September 20 to mark international Software Freedom Day.
“Software Freedom Day” aims at promoting public awareness and use of free and open source software.
Ahead of the day, the Ghana-India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT (AITI-KACE) in collaboration with Accra Linux User Group, organisers of the celebration, in conjunction with the Association of Ghana Industries, (AGI) will hold a press conference to inform the general public about the activities of the Software Freedom Day, on Friday, September 19.
The press conference would also be used to launch this year's AITI-KACE innovation week 2008 on the theme: ICT Innovation – with Open Source & Mobile Content.
A statement issued by the AITI and signed by Mr. Fred Amankwah – Sarfo, Business Dev. Manager, said the press conference would be addressed by
Ms Dorothy Gordon, the Director General of AITI-KACE and Mr. Anthony Oteng-Gyasi, President of AGI among others.
