Poem: Death, icy death
Death o death
Where is your heart?
You take away a part
Of their joy, love and hope
Without a care how they cope
You do so without excuse
Though some consider it abuse
What do you care
Death o death
Why do you not tell?
Just by the ring of a bell
What you wish to say
Then all can rightly pay
Their respects and bid farewell
But lo, none can foretell
That which you chart
Death o death
For some you come in a form so harmless
So that all let down their guard
Then you creep in fearless
Into their fragile yard
Like a cankerworm
You eat your way
Like the scorching sun
You spread your ray
Till a shadow you create
Around that soul so great
Death O Death
Many great minds have you stolen
Many hearts have you broken
Many visions have you buried
Many promises have you left uncarried
Many are the stories left untold
Many are the families that have lost the bold
Many have you captured without a cause
Many have you placed in a state of remorse
Death O Death
We shall defy you
And hold on to life
With our whole strength and thrive
And ask the Lord
To teach us to number our days
To walk with wisdom and lay
All our cares and fears
Before the one who saves and spares
