Reports say nineteen people have died in an accident which occurred, Saturday evening at Subriso near Akropong in the Wassa Amenfi East District of the Western Region.

According to Rivers FM's Asonaba Barnasko, the accident occurred when a Sprinter bus carrying 17 people, including the driver and his mate rammed into a stationary articulator truck parked on the road.

The articulated truck was conveying bags of cement to Bogoso, a nearby town when it developed a fault on the road.

Two mechanics working on the truck also perished on the spot when the bus crashed into them.

Asonaba Barnasko said “the Sprinter bus driver was speeding so by the time he realized the truck was not in motion he could not stop.

“Everyone on the bus including the two mechanics who were working on the articulated [truck] died on the spot,” he added.

Asonaba Barnasko said Wassa District Police Commander, ASP Isaac Kumanipa and his team were at the scene and have conveyed the bodies to the Wasa Akropong hsopital morgue.

He added that some family members of the deceased who found out about the accident have been to the hospital to identify the bodies of their loved ones.
